Killer nurse Lucy Letby whines she’s ‘losing away’ in jail with disturbing pal

Serial killer nurse Lucy Letby has been overheard complaining to fellow prisoners that she’s in the “prime of her life” and is wasting away behind bars.

The child killer, 35, is serving 15 whole life sentences for murdering seven innocent newborns and attempting to murder eight more while working in the neo-natal unit at the Countess of Chester Hospital.

She is currently incarcerated at HMP Bronzefield, home to the nation’s most dangerous female criminals, including Sara Sharif’s killer.

An inmate from Houseblock Four, where Letby is likely to spend the remainder of her life, told the Mirror that the multiple murderer holds no hope of release.

Despite being convicted in two trials and twice denied leave to appeal, a group advocating for Letby insists she has been wronged by the justice system. On Tuesday, they presented differing medical opinions on some of the evidence used in court in an attempt to secure a new appeal.

Despite the horrific nature of her crimes, former neonatal nurse Letby seems more concerned about her own life “wasting away” than the ongoing trial.

An anonymous source from within the prison revealed: “She’s worried about the time this is all taking, the last trial was one year long, with zero defence experts, but now they are going to have these 14 people, how long is the trial going to be, what court is going to be able to manage a year-long trial. Meanwhile, she’s 35 years old, she’s in the prime of her life and her life is wasting away.”

The same source also shared that Letby has been assigned tasks within the prison, such as making breakfast toast for other inmates and doing laundry, reports the Mirror.

The insider added: “She is really odd, she’s very weird. She doesn’t come across as very sympathetic, she’s not very friendly, she’s super shy actually, but she will help wherever she can. She’s just odd, she has a weird look, when she thinks someone is looking at her, she’s staring at people.”

An insider has spilled the beans on Lucy Letby, who can’t even stroll down the prison corridors without a guard by her side.

But it’s not all doom and gloom for Letby; she’s apparently chummy with another infamous inmate, Beinash Batool, the stepmum who murdered her own stepdaughter in another case that shocked the nation. Apparently Letby and Batool are now “best friends” in prison.

In August 2023, after painfully long deliberations spanning 22 days and over 96 hours, a jury finally handed down its verdict against neonatal nurse Letby, convicting her of chillingly cold-blooded crimes. She was found guilty on seven murder counts carried out between 2015 and 2016 at the Countess of Chester Hospital.

On Tuesday at a press conference led by Mark McDonald KC, barrister par excellence, and MP David Davis lobbed an explosive statement, deeming Letby’s case “one of major injustices of modern times”. A battalion of 14 top-tier neonatal medical experts backed their claim, brandishing “medical evidence” touted to dismantle the very groundwork of the prosecution’s case at trial.

Retired medic Dr Shoo Lee, who co-authored a 1989 academic paper on air embolism in babies, presented the findings of a panel who said they had compiled an “impartial evidence-based report”. He then listed seven instances where he believed the care of each baby had been incorrectly attributed to Letby, asserting there was “clear evidence” that something else “really happened”.

The Criminal Cases Review Commission has indicated it will review an application from Letby’s support group to determine if new evidence could significantly raise the odds of overturning her conviction. In a twist, it seems the press conference has rallied some backing for Letby among her fellow inmates at Bronzefield.

When asked if Letby believes she will be released from prison, the prisoner insider source said: “No, I’ve asked her about that, exactly that, she just says she takes a day at a time, because that’s the only way to get through it. You can’t have hope. I think she has day-at-a-time hope, it’s just enough to get her through, a day at a time.”
