Wayne Mardle points three phrase assertion after making Sky Sports Darts return
Wayne Mardle posted an emotional three word message after he made his return to the commentary booth for Sky Sports Darts’ coverage of Premier League of Darts
Wayne Mardle has issued a three word statement after making his Sky Sports Darts return.
Mardle was back on comms as the Premier League of Darts got back underway on Thursday evening, after he missed the Paddy Power PDC World Darts Championship following the tragic death of his wife, Donna, in December.
Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, after Michael van Gerwen had dumped Luke Littler out of the first round, Mardle posted: “I needed that,” adding a heart emoji.
“The world of darts has missed you so much and it’s great to have you back,” one fan responded. While a second said: “One of the good guys and the love of sport showing what a great healer it can be for so many!”
“Wasn’t it great to hear Wayne Mardle back on commentary in the Premier League Darts tonight! We’ve all missed the voice of darts and it’s great to have him back,” a third posted.
And another added: “What a game to come back for btw, an instant Premier League classic!”
Mardle had skipped the World Darts Championship after his wife’s tragic passing – Emma Paton had the tough task of informing the viewing audience as she explained Mardle’s absence.
“Wayne is the heart and soul of darts and everything we do. But the heart and soul of his world, his wife Donna, sadly passed away earlier this week after a short illness.
“We will be remembering Donna throughout this tournament.
“Wayne, you’re in our thoughts. You’re in our hearts. We love you very much. And we will see you very soon.”
