ITV were forced to apologise after some x-rated language from Plymouth centre-back Nikola Katic.

Katic, who was awarded man of the match as Plymouth dumped Liverpool out of the FA Cup, was thrust in front of TV cameras after the full-time whistle. “I f***ing love it, that’s why I came here,” he told ITV – who swiftly apologised for the language.

The microphone was quickly shifted to goalscorer Ryan Hardie who said his job was to “kick the ball in the net and it’s one-nil.

“There’s a lot of pressure, I had a lot of practice, it’s [about] picking your side and committing to it.” He added he “was starting to get nervous, but we kept the lead.

“It’s insane, a dream come true to play them and beat them, I’ll remember it forever!”

Plymouth only signed the Bosnia international on loan from Zurich last week. He has six international caps and previously played for Rangers as well as Hajduk Split and Slaven Belupo.

Katic stuck his head on everything, including team-mate Adam Randell in the seventh minute as he lost a tooth.

“Some things you just can’t understand. Quality that. Katic and Hazard were NOT losing that game,” one fan posted.

“Nikola Katic, the Plymouth defender, has been an absolute rock here. Seems to have headed away every single cross Liverpool have put in, many of which have been extremely poor balls,” a second said.

“Plymouth couldn’t buy a win. In comes Katic and they are beating Liverpool… could be nothing,” a third joked. And another added “What an incredible effort. Katic a machine!”
