Logan Paul gives to struggle Lionel Messi in boxing match to finish Prime power drink lawsuit
Logan Paul has offered Lionel Messi a way to settle their Prime energy drink lawsuit, but it involves the Argentine football superstar stepping into the boxing ring
Logan Paul has offered to fight Lionel Messi in a boxing match to settle their lawsuit.
The YouTuber’s energy drink company Prime, in which he is a business partner with KSI, are seeking legal action against Messi for his rival hydration drink brand Mas+.
Prime became one of the most sought-after drinks when the product flew off the shelf in 2022. The brand has since become the official drink of the UFC, LA Lakers, LA Dodgers and Barcelona. But Prime has a new challenger, from Messi’s drink line Mas+.
The Inter Miami superstar entered the drinks market last year but Prime are claiming more than just rivalry between the two lines. Mas+ is packaged very similarly to Paul’s Prime brand, which has caused tension between the companies.
Mas+ threw the first legal punch by suing Prime last October for “anti-competitive” behaviour. Messi’s line alleged in writing that Prime had tried to pressure them into changing their packaging. The following month, Prime countersued, accusing Mas+ of copying their trademarked design.
Extraordinarily, Paul has now claimed that he is willing to drop the lawsuit if Messi agrees to a boxing match with him this year. Paul fought and lost against KSI in his first professional boxing fight, later facing Floyd Mayweather Jr. in an exhibition fight and beating Dillon Danis in October 2023 after the MMA fighter was disqualified.
Paul uploaded a video on his social media page, where he said to Messi: “Brother, you copied us. Everyone saw it. They saw what you did.
“Everyone notices it and then we got sued. Hold on, wait, what? This ain’t justice. So we countersued, obviously.
“If you can’t beat the best, you gotta be the best. But that’s illegal. That’s trademark infringement. We’re holding him accountable, and its harassment?
“All jokes aside, I will consider dropping this if Logan Paul vs Messi [gets made in] 2025. I’ll see you in the ring brother.”
Paul was previously in negotiations to face Conor McGregor in a lucrative crossover fight in India for $250m earlier this year. But the UFC halted talks.
