Thames Water present ‘two fingers to prospects’ as they ask to hike costs much more
Thames Water has already been allowed to increase bills by 35% over the next five years by regulator Ofwat, but they’re now asking to raise prices even more
Thames Water scumbags have been accused of showing “two fingers to customers” after begging for the right to charge them even more.
The world’s most vile firm has already been allowed a 35% hike in consumer bills over the next five years by water regulator Ofwat. But the water company had previously lobbied for a 59% hike and is now wanting the Competition and Markets Authority to review Ofwat’s decision.
Thames Water chairman Adrian Montague said increasing bills further “in the interests of our customers and the environment”. The shameless move comes as the company has tried to defend paying large bonuses to its bosses while it has seen worsening performance on sewage pollution.
Thames Water is also on the verge of financial collapse.
Campaigner Feargal Sharkey said the demand follows decades of the firm “ram raiding customers bank accounts for billions” while dumping “billions of litres of sewage into rivers”. He said: “Thames Water shows two fingers to customers. We’ve been had!!!”
Mike Keil, chief executive of the Consumer Council for Water, said that Thames Water customers are already facing steep bill rises.
“They will be incensed the company now has the temerity to pursue an even larger increase,” he said. “This is a company which has a poor track record on service delivery and customer complaints.
“So people will rightly question why it should be trusted with even more of billpayers’ money. “People want investment to improve services but they also expect value for money and to be treated fairly.”
Mr Montague added the appeal is aimed at “putting the business on a long-term stable footing so we can succeed in our turnaround”.
