New weather maps have revealed the areas in the UK where Brits are most likely to see snow this weekend.

The WXCharts maps show large parts of the country turning from blue to bright orange, indicating an increased chance of snowfall across the UK.

According to these maps, the west coast of the UK is most likely to see a flurry of the white stuff. Maps for Sunday, February 16, show almost half of the country with some chance of experiencing snowfall.

From midnight, western Scotland, the Highlands, the North East of England and parts of Yorkshire have between a 70% to 90% chance of snowfall.

Those living north of the border also face a likelihood of snowfall ranging from 40% to 60%, increasing the further east they are.

Lincolnshire, the Midlands, East Anglia and northern Wales also see a probability of 20% around this time. Fast forward six hours, and it becomes even more likely that snow will fall in the Highlands and western Scotland.

By midday on Sunday, people living in Scotland’s central belt and border region will also face a greater chance of seeing snowfall, with these regions having a probability of between 80% to 90%, reports the Mirror.

For the weekend ahead, expect “rather cloudy and breezy” weather across Northern Ireland, Wales, and southwest England today, complete with some rain and hill snow over in western Scotland. According to forecasters, we’re set for a change from Saturday to Monday.

Met Office Deputy Chief Meteorologist, Mike Silverstone, said: “The high pressure has brought a period of cloudy and dull conditions across much of the UK.

“We do see some change in our weather through the weekend, with rain in the west and the chance of snow further east over higher ground on Saturday.”

Heading into next week, the forecast tells of predominantly dry and bright conditions, yet with a biting edge due to a brisk south-easterly breeze. But as the month draws to a close, frontal zones will make an “erratic” trek eastwards, affecting all parts of the nation with bouts of rain, wind, and notably milder temperatures as winds veer in from the Atlantic.
