Brit bingo followers instructed UK cities with largest multi-million pound wins – see full checklist
Bingo fanatics across the UK may start reconsidering the city they live in, with some areas seemingly far more likely to walk away with massive rewards than others
Folk from the north of England are the nation’s biggest bingo winners, with Leeds and Merseyside raking in the most jackpot loot.
Players from Yorkshire’s biggest city scooped a staggering £30.8million in online winnings in 2024.
While those in the Liverpool area – including Birkenhead, Knotty Ash and St Helens – trousered £5.3million at bingo halls last year. Other lucky towns and cities include Stockton-on-Tees, County Durham, where people playing in person bagged £5.1m, while total winnings at Leeds’ Crossgate and Mayfair clubs topped £3.9m.
Halls in Wakefield, West Yorks (£3.7m), Blackpool, Lancs (£3.4m) and Hartlepool in County Durham (£2.8m) also saw total customer winnings run into the millions.
But this was dwarfed by online prizes, with players from Birmingham in the West Midlands and Hull, East Yorks, banking total spoils of £27m and £23.2m, respectively.
Web bingo and slots fans in Liverpool alone landed a total of £20.4m – almost four times the winnings dished out in Merseyside bingo halls.
Norfolk (£21.5m), Leicester (£20.4m), Durham (£19.4m), Dudley, West Mids (£17.3m) and Kirklees, West Yorks (£16.4m) were also hotspots for online victors.
But folk from the south scooped the single biggest online jackpots with a slots player from Waltham Forest, north-east London, winning £439,400 in a single spin, while the biggest online bingo winner received £75,000 in Bexley, south-east London.
Andy Crump, managing director of Mecca Bingo, which used data from Play Online Bingo Games at Mecca Bingo and its venues across England to produce the report, said: “2024’s stats show that luck is alive and well, with over £1.7billion in prize money shared across the UK among our online and in-club players last year.
“As we step into 2025, we look forward to making even more winners as we continue to develop new games and events to spread the joy of bingo.”
