Italian puffer and ski jacket maker Moncler defies luxurious slowdown

The Italian puffer and ski jacket maker Moncler has shrugged off a luxury slowdown as sales surged in China.

The high-end group, which last year was rumoured to be planning a bid for Burberry, saw sales rise 8 per cent to just under £1billion in the last three months of 2024.

Moncler, which specialises in jackets but makes everything from skirts and T-shirts to swimming costumes and hats, hailed ‘solid double-digit growth’ in China, which helped its fourth-quarter sales in Asia climb by some 11 per cent compared to the year before.

Chairman and chief executive Remo Ruffini said the group ‘achieved remarkable results’.
