Barcelona manager Hansi Flick has hit out at Jude Bellingham for his red card and abusive language during Real Madrid‘s game against Osasuna on Saturday.

The England star was sent off in the 39th minute of the LaLiga match when referee Jose Luis Munuera Monter accused him of saying: ‘F*** you’.

However, Bellingham later claimed that the game’s official was mistaken, claiming he said ‘f*** off’, and that the X-rated message was not directed towards Monter.

Following the incident, the 21-year-old apologised to his Madrid team-mates, after they conceded a goal in the 58th minute and lost two crucial points in the LaLiga standings.

However, their rivals’ boss Flick has criticised Bellingham for his behaviour, adding that the Englishman was ‘disrespectful’ to the referee.

‘It is disrespectful, but I’m not the one who should comment on it,’ said Flick during a press conference ahead of Barcelona’s home clash against Rayo Vallecano.

Earlier, reports indicated that Bellingham might be suspended for up to 12 LaLiga matches due to his use of abusive language.

‘That’s what I’ve always told the players. Why waste time and energy arguing with the referee regarding the decisions he makes?

‘There is a player, who is the captain, who has the right to argue with the referee. I don’t like the behaviour I saw yesterday and I told the players that today. It’s a weakness when you get a red card.’

The league leaders lost two significant points and could see their rivals, Blaugrana, boosting to the top position in LaLiga on Monday.

Despite a comeback win against Manchester City in the Champions League in midweek, Madrid have been suffering domestically of late with just one win over their last four games in the league.

However, after the clash against Osasuna, Los Blancos boss Carlo Ancelotti said: ‘I think the referee did not understand Jude Bellingham’s English. He said f*** off, not f*** you – that’s way different. I won’t talk more about the referee as I want to be on the bench next week.’

Earlier, it has been revealed that Bellingham could face a 12-match ban following his X-rated comments. However, it is also understood that Madrid are planning to appeal his red card.

He is expected to be included in the starting line-up for the second-leg tie against Manchester City on Wednesday, but will miss Los Blancos’ next LaLiga game against Girona at Santiago Bernabeu on Sunday.

Meanwhile, Barcelona are eager to reclaim the top position after their both league rivals recently lost points. On Saturday, Atletico Madrid also finished their game with a 1-1 game against Celta Vigo.
