Video footage has captured the incredible moment a hiker finds two bald eagles tangled up in a tree.
Kerr Will captured the jaw-dropping moment he discovered the two massive bald eagles locked in a potentially deadly embrace high up in an Alaskan tree.
The stunned hiker was walking his dog in Kodiak on Super Bowl Sunday when he stumbled across the extraordinary scene – two of America’s most treasured national birds tangled together.
Incredible footage shows the massive birds hanging precariously from a branch, with their deadly talons gripped together.
Will’s dog can be heard barking excitedly at the scene.
‘I had just walked by that spot probably 10 minutes ago and they weren’t there,’ Will told USA TODAY. ‘I turned around and headed back and couldn’t believe what I saw.’
He admitted that he had initially thought he was looking at ‘one huge bird’ before the heart-stopping realization that he was witnessing two adult eagles locked in a dangerous embrace.
After filming the dramatic scene, Will attempted to think of a way to help the animals.

‘I’d never experienced anything like that before, so I wasn’t sure what the right thing to do was,’ he revealed to the outlet.
But the crisis was soon resolved on its own.
Moments after Will stopped recording, the bottom eagle made one final desperate attempt to break free – and succeeded in doing so.
Both birds soared away ‘seemingly unharmed’ from their death-defying encounter.
‘The bottom eagle tried to yank free again and finally got loose,’ he said.
‘They both flew off seemingly unharmed.
The bald eagle has been a symbol of power and strength in the US for more than 240 years but has only recently been declared the national bird.

In March, a bald eagle was left trapped inside a car’s grille after being hit by a driver on a Maryland highway.
An encounter with the vehicle in Calvert County, Maryland, left a bald eagle in a tricky situation. Disaster struck when the driver accidentally collided with the bird on Route 4.
The bird – that famously symbolizes freedom – ironically could not break free on its own from the grille of the vehicle that had slammed into it.
After pulling over to check on the situation, the driver found the eagle still alive with its feathers trapped in the protective nose panel of the vehicle.
The driver called the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office for help following the collision.
An officer with Calvert County Animal Control Officer and deputies with the sheriff’s office were able to rescue the bird – which they said is in ‘good health.’
Animal Control officer Hannah Neel was pictured holding the patriotic bird after it was freed.
