The landlady of a pub where a woman was tragically shot dead has spoken out about the horrifying incident. The victim, a woman in her 40s, was enjoying a drink at the Three Horseshoes pub in Knockholt, Kent, when she was brutally killed in the car park on Friday, February 14.

The pub owner described hearing two loud bangs, initially mistaking them for fireworks, before realising the chilling reality. She told Sky News: “There was so much commotion – screaming, shouting, crying. People were outside, on their phones. We tried to get people inside the pub to console them. People were only just starting to sit down, it was early on in the evening.”

An off-duty firearms police officer was among the approximately 50 patrons present and managed to bring the situation under control.

The pub reopened on Sunday, but the community remains in shock. The identity of the victim has not yet been released by police, but the landlady confirmed that she had visited the pub previously, though she ‘wasn’t a regular’. Police are still hunting for the suspect, who they believe may have fled via the Dartford Crossing, reports MyLondon.

In a chilling turn of events on Saturday night, police revealed that the suspect in a deadly shooting at a pub near Sevenoaks ‘may have entered the water’ at the Dartford Crossing. Kent Police are on high alert after the suspect, who is believed to have known the victim, fled the scene, leaving behind a car and firearm at the Queen Elizabeth II bridge.

Reports soon emerged of a man dangerously positioned on the wrong side of the barrier. Detective Chief Inspector David Higham stated: “Call handlers received reports of a man on the wrong side of the barrier and we are not ruling out the possibility that he may have entered the water.

“We are currently only looking for one suspect and do not believe there to be an ongoing risk to the public. Specialist officers continue to work with the families of both parties involved to support them following this tragic incident.”

The area remains tense as it’s revealed neither the suspect nor the victim hailed from Kent, though they had ties to the locale.

Parish councillor Steve Maines recounted to the BBC how his romantic Valentine’s Day dinner was disrupted by chaos, revealing, “We were sitting having our Valentine’s Day meal when all of a sudden we heard this huge commotion outside in the car park. We were told someone had been shot so we had to leave.”
