Wrexham boss Phil Parkinson refused to put a timeline on the return of Elliot Lee after the midfielder was involved in a car crash on Tuesday.
The club confirmed Lee was taken to hospital following a road traffic accident which came after the 1-0 win over Bolton in the Vertu Trophy.
A statement from the club read: ‘the incident involved one other car and resulted in the drivers of both cars being taken to hospital.
‘Emergency services were quickly on the scene and the Club would like to thank them for their prompt response and action.’
Wrexham won at Northampton on Saturday despite the absence of Lee and manager Parkinson was asked when fans could expect him back.
‘It’s difficult to put a time on that,’ said the Reds’ boss.

‘Elliot’s got a bit of trauma in his body, in general, and obviously bruising to his rib cage and some muscle damage there.
‘We don’t know the extent of it yet because we just want things to settle and then bring him back in this week.
‘We’ll assess Elliot this week but obviously we just want to give him a bit of time before he comes back in.
‘Elliot’s a key player for us, he’s our top scorer. We need him back but obviously we’ve got to make sure he’s right.’
Lee, the son of former England and Newcastle United midfielder Rob, has been key player for Wrexham since joining the club in 2022.
The 30-year-old has been part of their back-to-back promotion winning teams, which has seen the club rise from the National League to League One.
Lee has played 134 matches for the Welsh side, which is backed by the Hollywood owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, scoring 38 goals.
The midfielder has made 31 appearances in all competitions this season, scoring eight goals and providing four assists.
Wrexham are currently pursuing a third consecutive promotion with Phil Parkinson’s side third in League One.
The Red Dragons are now two points adrift of second placed Wycombe, who occupy the second automatic promotion spot.

The incident came just weeks after fellow Wrexham star James McClean crashed his Audi on route to training.
The Irishman went off road near to Wrexham Golf Club on January 22, with eyewitnesses reporting significant damage to the footballer’s black Audi.
Fog and ice presented treacherous conditions in North Wales and one source close to the scene described ‘lots of tyre marks’ on the roundabout heading into Wrexham.
McClean’s Audi was towed away from the scene with witnesses describing a smashed windscreen and significant damage to the car.
He was fit to start and captain Wrexham in their League One match against Birmingham City the following day.
