Luke Littler’s pal and streaming buddy Aaron Hunt is the new chairman of a non-league team following his success with the club on Football Manager.
The darts world champion has gained a different crowd of followers through him streaming video games, most notably FC25. Littler has been involved in a Clubs team on the game, where he has been team-mates with Hunt.
Hunt, from Bolton, found fame on TikTok and through streaming but his gaming exploits have seen him insanely named the new chairman of Westhoughton tenth-tier North West Counties Football League club Daisy Hill FC.
Daisy Hill, who are just one league below the reformed Bury, announced that Hunt has become the club’s new chairman after he was headhunted by the Cutters’ manager Lee Hill in the hope he can recreate his virtual success.
“It’s a romantic story, he took Daisy Hill through the leagues on Football Manager, so hopefully he can do that for real”, Mr Hill said.
Hill said he messaged the streamer about the job offer on Instagram, writing: “Alright Daisy Hill gaffer, this is the other Daisy Hill gaffer.”
Speaking about his appointment, Hunt said: “I’m buzzing to take this project on and appreciate all the support given so far.
“It would be great to have as many of you as possible down for match days. I’ll be learning on the job every day and it isn’t going to happen overnight but I really think this football club has potential to go far.
“Lots of sponsorship opportunities will be available as well as help needed with certain aspects of the work. We will also be holding trial days if you think you could play for the club.
“I would love to give everyone the opportunity to get involved with this project in any way possible. This is not my club. This is OUR club. UP THE CUTTERS”.
Daisy Hill were founded in 1894 and are one of the league’s founding members. However, the club have recently been under financial pressure and faced the threat of folding. The appointment of Hunt, and his friendship with Littler, is hoped to draw social media attention and match day fans to the club.
