Thomas Tuchel has reportedly missed more than half of the Premier League weekends as England‘s new absentee manager.
The German has attended matches on just two of the five weekends of fixtures since taking over the job on January 1.
He has also skipped both rounds of the FA Cup and all four games in the Carabao Cup semi-finals, according to The Times.
It is a stark contrast to the ubiquity of Gareth Southgate and his former assistant Steve Holland, who are said to have attended an average of five Premier League matches per week between them.
Tuchel has been allowed to work from home in Germany as part of his deal to lead England on an 18-month deal, with an eye on silverware at the 2026 World Cup.
Moreover, there is no suggestion that Tuchel has not been watching matches, just that he has not been regularly attending.

He has also been a regular attendee at European games involving English clubs, including Manchester City’s 3-2 defeat by Real Madrid last week.
In total, Tuchel, 51, has attended 17 matches on English and continental shores since taking the job. The FA has also claimd to The Times that Tuchel has visited the national team’s base, St George’s Park, on multiple occasions.
He has two daughters with his ex-wife, Sissi, from whom he divorced in 2022 after 13 years of marriage.
‘I love to live in England and I’m looking forward to living again in England,’ Tuchel insisted when he his appointment was confirmed in October.
‘I want to be close to the Premier League, I want to be close to the majority of the players. But of course, the schedule will allow me to be close to my family and my children in Germany. But yeah, I will be in England most of the time.
‘I am sorry to have a German passport but I can just tell them (fans) and maybe the supporters can feel my passion for the English Premier League, my passion for the country, how I love to live and work here.
‘How my memories are of the highest level and they played a huge role and hopefully I can convince people and show them and prove to them that I am proud to be English manager.

On taking the job, Tuchel insisted that he will be in England ‘most of the time’
‘I will do everything to show respect to this role and to this country. The target for the next 18 months is nothing else. This is the biggest one in world football and everybody can be assured… no matter of (their) nationality.
‘So everyone can be assured that we will do it with passion and emotion and we will try to install values and principles and rules as quickly as possible to make the dream come through. First we have to go through the qualification process to the World Cup. It starts for us in January. We will dive in.’
His first fixtures will be World Cup qualifiers against Albania and Latvia in March.
