Twisted ‘loss of life record’ discussion board licks lips over Pope’s loss of life and talks well being considerations
The sick website has been teeming with chatter about the Pope’s ill health, and also includes a list of names of people touted to be possible candidates to die that year.
A twisted death forum is salivating over the prospect of the Pope’s health failing.
The Vatican has announced that Pope Francis, 88, has got pneumonia in both lungs and the situation is ‘complex’ leading to a bizarre frenzy of activity on a dark part of the internet known as ‘The DeathList Forums’.
On Friday (February 14) he was admitted to Rome’s Gemelli hospital, but despite reports yesterday that he was in ‘good spirits’ the pontiff is understood to have told aides he “might not make it this time”.
The group, which has the slogan ‘On today, gone tomorrow’ and even has a leaderboard for its users, has sprung into action discussing speculation about his health condition.
“I’ll tell you, the situation is complex because he is suffering from a more serious underlying issue, likely some kind of cancer, and he has been gravely ill for years, with the general public not knowing,” one forum member wrote. “Even if he survives this hospitalisation, he won’t make it through the year. Seems a repeat of Silvio’s last months two years ago.”
This sparked conversation, demands for evidence, and more speculation from their fellow members.
“What makes you think he has cancer or something similar?” one person responded. “I doubt it’s that honestly. Probably just pneumonia but with only one lung functioning I get that it’s complex…”
In a statement, the Vatican gave an update on the Holy Father’s situation, saying: “The follow-up chest CT scan which the Holy Father underwent this afternoon… demonstrated the onset of bilateral pneumonia, which required additional drug therapy”.
Meanwhile, in the death forum, people chatted about what this might mean, and not in an overly sympathetic way. “Not having two complete lungs won’t help here,” one wrote.
There is a fascination with death in the forum. One person on the thread had named themselves Seppuku, after the traditional Japanese ritual suicide that saw samurais open up their own bellies before a second person lopped off their head.
“They are revealing the truth bit by bit as you expect from the church,” another said. “What they are not saying is they don’t manage to cure the infection because he is immunocompromised due to a long term illness.”
Then, in response to no one, one person speculated: “If I had to take a guess about his real illness, I’d say multiple myeloma.”
In a description about themselves, the poster of this comment says of themself: “Interests: I’m a professional serial killer, known as the Zodiac killer. I’m old so I decided to hang up my knife and write some stupid things on Deathlist.”
Someone else wrote: “Honestly I don’t think he has a bad illness like cancer. I think that he has bronchitis like every year in these days. But this time it is getting worse…”
Beyond the thread about the Pope, the grim site includes a list of names of people touted to be possible candidates to die that year.
