Question Time host Fiona Bruce in tears on dwell TV after colleague’s loss of life
The 60-year-old host of the BBC panel show was moved to tears when announcing the death of a beloved producer of the show, who had spoken to ‘over 100,000 audience members in her time’
Fiona Bruce suddenly broke down in tears while hosting Question Time while she announced some heartbreaking news.
The studio audience heard from the 60-year-old host that a beloved show producer had sadly passed away following a short illness. “I just want to say before we go,” she began, “but very sadly last week we lost a well loved…”
Bruce suddenly became very choked up, finding it difficult to speak. “Oh my gosh,” she said.
Picking herself up, the host continued about the recently departed show producer. “One of Question Times’ longest-serving producers, Ali Fuller,” said Bruce. “She’d worked on this programme for something like 27 years and she was responsible for recruiting audiences like you [gesturing to the audience].”
She added: “And we reckon she spoke to well over 100,000 audience members in that time. It was a very short and sudden illness and we’re all shocked by her death. I just want to send my love to Ali’s family.”
It’s not the first time Bruce has struggled for words while hosting the popular political panel show on BBC.
Back in October last year, in the run-up to the US election the broadcast spiralled into a heated tirade, with several audience members swearing live on air, with the word “b*****s” being used repeatedly. At one point, as one guest said it again, Bruce could be heard desperately trying to get things back on track.
