UK set for extra snow in March as climate professional warns of ‘very late wintry blast’

BRITAIN will be split down the middle by madcap March weather.
There is set to be a balmy, almost summer-feel to spring in the South while the wild, wintry and wet North faces snow.
It’ll feel like two different countries as southern sunlovers enjoy some warmth early next month, with temperatures “likely to be above average”.
Meanwhile, hardy northern folk are set to freeze and face getting blanketed in snow as winter is strung out further.
Forecasters are warning that the “wettest and windiest” weather will be confined to northern areas, with “some snow” and overnight frost.
Dan Stroud, from the Met Office, said: “The further south and east you are, the greater chance of seeing dry and bright conditions.”
The Met Office’s long-range forecast said: “Much of this period looks like being mainly unsettled, with Atlantic systems moving east across the UK.
“However, the start of the period may be drier and more settled, especially towards the south or southeast.”
James Madden, of Exacta Weather, also warned of “very late wintry blasts in March and April”.
He added that Brits should not be “lulled into a false sense of security by thinking spring has sprung for this year”.
Ahead of that, 16C Britain is set to be hotter than Greece and Turkey this weekend.
The country will enjoy milder conditions after chilly climates and grey outlooks over the last week, with tomorrow (SAT) getting the best of it.
Meanwhile, Mediterranean holiday hotspots will face the wrath of Storm Coral, with the mercury due to plunge as low as 1C.
But the public is being urged to enjoy it while it lasts, as the miserable weather is due to return from Sunday.
Mr Stroud said: “It’s going to feel quite mild.
“Saturday promises to be a decent day.
“Make the most of Saturday, because Sunday is wet and windy and likely to see some gales developing.”
