Mum’s heartbreak discovering ‘vibrant’ teen daughter useless hours after doing hair for varsity
Grace Billows, 15, was found unconscious on her bedroom floor by her mum Lisa after the pair had left the house that morning so her younger sister could go to hospital
A “vibrant” teenage girl was tragically found dead by her mum hours after leaving her to do her hair for school.
Grace Billows, 15, was discovered unconscious on her bedroom floor by her mother, Lisa, who had earlier left their Bootle home to take her youngest daughter to a hospital appointment.
On returning, Lisa, 62, was faced with the devastating scene. Speaking to the ECHO, Lisa recounted how she had left Grace getting ready for Sacred Heart Catholic Academy that morning, but upon coming back from the hospital, she found her lifeless.
While the official cause of death is yet to be confirmed, Lisa suspects it was an epileptic seizure that took her daughter’s life. Diagnosed with epilepsy the previous year and also contending with Coeliac disease, Grace never let her conditions hinder her zest for life or dampen her ambitions.
Celebrating her daughter’s life, Lisa told the ECHO: “She was vibrant and so full of life. She was stubborn, she was sarcastic and she would always make you laugh with the things that would come out of her mouth. She loved her history, if you started a conversation with her you couldn’t stop her.”
Lisa added, “She was so full of life and she had so much to live for, so many plans. I was so proud of her, she was doing so well, she really was. She was so helpful, she would always helpful around the house. She had OCD so she was so clean and tidy.”
Lisa, who is a full-time carer, revealed that she had planned to go shopping with Grace for her prom dress before her tragic passing. Lisa added: “My daughter would have gone on to be something, she would have made it in life. We had plans together, we were meant to be going shopping this Tuesday for her prom dress.”
