Stephen Graham’s foul-mouthed rant at a football referee has reportedly landed his nephew’s club with a fine and seven penalty points.

The actor, 51, allegedly hurled nasty insults at non-league referee David Kennedy while watching Barrow Town FC play in Leicestershire in December.

Stephen was allegedly investigated by the FA and his conduct has resulted in the football club being hit with a £190 fine, according to The Sun.

The club, for which Stephen’s nephew plays, has reportedly also been hit with seven penalty points after admitting to failing to control a spectator.

A source told the publication: ‘Graham’s behaviour was absolutely shameless, the club’s now been punished for his actions, which isn’t fair on players or fans.’

Daily Mail has contacted Barrow Town and Stephen’s representatives for comment.

The tirade allegedly came while Stephen watched his nephew play for Barrow Town in their face-off against Heather St John’s reserve squad on December 14.

According to The Sun, Stephen’s tirade caused the game to be held up for eight minutes with the referee refusing to continue until the actor left the touchline.

He reportedly called the referee a ‘f***ing Teletubby’ and a ‘fat useless t**t’ and also asked him if he had been bullied at school, with witnesses claiming he snapped for no reason.

According to reports, the Boiling Point star later apologised for his rant after the local FA launched an investigation into his behaviour.

He reportedly accused the referee of being on a ‘power trip’ and is also said to have made a crude reference to a sex act.

It’s also claimed Stephen boasted about being famous, saying: ‘Google me, I’m on Netflix.’

A source said at the time: ‘His behaviour was absolutely disgusting. The referee was so horrified, along with everyone else.

‘He, rightly, refused to continue with the match until Graham left. Eventually he agreed to go and sit in the bar so the game could continue.’

Stephen reportedly apologised to the referee right after the game and then called him two days later to apologise again.

A source close to the actor said he was ‘mortified’ over the incident but denied he ever told people to ‘Google’ him.

The insider also denied further claims that he used the C-word or threatened to ‘knock out’ the referee.

Barrow Town eventually lost the game 3-0.

Barrow Town’s Facebook previously shared a photo of Stephen attending one of their games as he showed his support for the club.

Alongside the image, the team wrote: ‘We had a thrilling 3-3 draw against Sileby, but the real surprise came when actor Stephen Graham stopped by to support his nephew and cheer on the Barrow Town team.

‘He even took time to chat and snap photos with fans. A brilliant example of community spirit and support.’

The FA launched its Enough Is Enough campaign last year to tackle discriminatory behaviour which came after a rise in abuse against refs.

The Leicestershire & Rutland County FA told MailOnline: ‘We are aware of an alleged incident from a fixture between Barrow Town and Heather St Johns, played on 14 December 2024.

‘We have been in contact with the Match Official to offer our support and we are carrying out a full investigation into the matter.

‘Offences against Match Officials are treated with the utmost seriousness – we strongly condemn any abusive or unacceptable behaviour towards our Match Officials.’
