Motorways in the UK have been shut down in both directions after human remains were discovered, causing major shock and traffic chaos. The M4 and M48 are totally gridlocked as coppers investigate the grim finds of a “body found on the carriageway”.

Roads have been closed off starting from the English side of the Prince of Wales Bridge and Severn Bridge, with commuters being warned to expect heavy disruption when trying to get in or out of Wales tonight. National Highways declared the shutdowns which include the M4 stretch between the Prince of Wales Bridge and Junction 20 at Almondsbury, and the M48 slammed shut between the M4 and Junction 1 near the Severn Bridge.

Not to mention, links from the M5 at junction 15 south to the M4 Junction 20 west, and from the M5 at junction 16 north to the M4 Junction 20 west are also off-limits. National Highways stated that Avon and Somerset Police are handling the eerie situation.

A police rep said: “The M4 is closed in both directions after a body was found on the carriageway between junctions 20 (Almondsbury Interchange) and 21 (Awkley).

“Police were called at 6.40pm on Saturday 22 February by several drivers reporting something in the road. Officers attended and found human remains.”, reports the Mirror.
