Some of Prince Harry’s visa documents may end up going public thanks to a fresh lawsuit in the United States that seeks to reveal whether he lied about past drug-taking.

The 40-year-old royal, who admitted in his memoir Spare to taking marijuana, cocaine and psychedelic mushrooms, has been living in the US with his wife Meghan Markle, 43, and their two children, Archie, five, and Lilibet, three, since 2020.

But the prince is facing fresh scrutiny over claims he lied about his history of drug taking on his visa application. The Heritage Foundation, which is bringing the suit, claims Harry may have either lied on his forms or received special treatment in order to live in the country.

At the time, the country was under US president Joe Biden’s administration but President Donald Trump has spoken out about how he would not support Harry if such information came to light in the past.

Last week, however, he said he would not deport Harry as “he had enough problems with his terrible wife”.

As part of the ongoing battle a judge also ruled last year that the records should remain private as he had a “legitimate privacy interest in his immigration status”.

But when challenged on this the judge agreed to release the “maximum amount possible” to the public about how Harry came to get into the US. Lawyers for DHS said that three items can be unsealed with redactions, according to MailOnline.

The US move came following Harry’s decision to step back from his role as an active, senior royal in the UK and choose to establish a new life in America.

He later officially confirmed his US residency through paperwork filed with British authorities.

In Spare, Prince Harry said he used cocaine as a teenager and smoked marijuana while a pupil at Eton. Both drugs are illegal in the UK.
