Two Virginia Beach cops shot useless throughout late-night visitors cease
On Friday night, two Virginia Beach police officers were shot dead during a traffic stop.
Police confirmed their deaths through a statement on social media and said the tragedy remains under investigation. The officers’ identities have not yet been released.
‘We are devastated to confirm the deaths of two of our officers, who were shot in the line of duty late last night,’ the statement said.
The Virginia Beach Police Department confirmed there was no ‘active threat,’ but were unable to share any further information due to the active investigation.
‘We ask for your patience and understanding as we work to put the pieces of this tragic event together, make notifications, and grieve the loss of two of our own,’ the statement concluded.
The shooting was reported to have been at the intersection of Lynnhaven Parkway and Wendfield Drive near an apartment complex at around 11:30 pm.

VBPD spokesperson Jody Saunders told WTKR: ‘VBPD is currently investigation a shooting that has resulted in the tragic loss of one of our own and the serious injury of another.’
Hours later, the second officer was reported to have succumbed to his injuries.
‘It is with profound regret that I inform you that the second officer in last night’s shooting succumbed to his wounds this morning,’ Saunders told the outlet.
Congresswoman Jen Kiggans wrote on X: ‘This morning our entire community mourns the tragic loss of two brave Virginia Beach police officers who were killed in the line of duty last night.’
‘As we await more information, please join me in praying for the loved ones and the Virginia Beach Police Department. Let justice be swift for those responsible.’
A press conference will be held this afternoon by Virginia Beach Police Chief Paul Neudigate and Mayor Bobby Dyer.
