Wrestling star Nic Nemeth said he felt Vince McMahon rewarded him with kissing practice with fellow performer CJ Perry, because the boss wanted them to be more passionate in the 2015 storyline.

In a recent edition of the Busted Open Radio podcast Nic, who performed as Dolph Ziggler, said it was challenging to kiss The Ravishing Russian in front of her ‘husband’, Rusev.

He said: “We’re in a very small room with (Lana and Rusev) and Vince is saying like, ‘Okay, we gotta’ see – we need you to be passionate together,’ and we have to practice kissing in a very small room with her husband there with Vince watching like this with a pencil (gestures) and you’re like, ‘Oh God.’”

Rusev and Lana were an iconic pro wrestling couple, but WWE would sometimes put their dynamic under pressure by putting the two in other romantic storylines.

Lana began a fictional romance with Dolph, having previously kissed former World Heavyweight Champion Miro on a May episode of Raw.

Miro then began a dalliance with Summer Rae, with the Rusev vs. Ziggler match ending in a double count-put at SummerSlam before Dolph managed to defeat Miro at Night of Champions.

The feud was then scrapped after TMZ reported on a real-life engagement between Miro and Lana.

Nic also said the romance angle became a weird bonding experience. He said: “It was also in the 2010s to where everyone’s online; again, not in WWE but in Hollywood it was much more like, ‘Are you okay with this? Are you okay with this? Okay now we go do a scene,’ instead of just like, ‘Go make it gross. Thank you,’ which is kind of the thing that we got.

“It’s not what you’re thinking in a lights-down hotel room… but it is absolutely the funniest, biggest rush when you get it, and you get it right.”
