BREAKING Is Virgin Media down? As a whole bunch of consumers say they left in ‘full blackout’

Several Virgin Media customers have reported a nation-wide black out on all of their services – with the media service said to have shut down.
Based on a graph which shows outages across the country, DownDetector, the volume of user reports started rising around 10.25AM. Following this, several users took to social media to share outrage and confusion after they were left unable to use services online. “Trying to work is impossible,” wrote one X user after reports started flooding in. Another added: “WiFi works on my phone but not my laptop. VM Connect app doesn’t work and neither does the online service status page.”
Virgin Media provides broadband, TV, landline & mobile to the nation, with around 45million customers in the UK. However, some customers have reported this is not the first instance in recent days they’ve suffered an issue.
A user on X penned: “Second day in a row with issues. Sites not loading and just poor performance. We pay a ton of money to you every year. How about fixing your network? Just saying as a paying customer.”
Some reported of a total “black out,” as they were not able to access the internet from their homes. “Always down these days,” complained another.
Within an hour, around 6,000 reports of the telecommunications company being down came through on the outage reporter DownDetector. In that, 72% reported issues with their landline and internet and 11% said their TV services were affected.
Adding to this, 17% say they have a “total blackout.” However, one customer added that they only had issues on certain applications: “Can’t access anything hosted on Microsoft Azure on my Virgin Media connection as of around 10am UK today. All other site access seems fine and I can access Azure fine on my other connections.”
