Second lady claiming to be Madeleine McCann solely realised after watching Dr Phil
American woman Eugenea Collins is now the second woman to claim to be the most famous missing infant in the world, joining Polish woman Julia Wandelt who was arrested on stalking charges
A second woman is now claiming to be the world’s most famous missing infant, Madeleine McCann. Eugenea Collins, from Arkansas in the US, claimes she has “DNA proof” she is the British child who went missing in 2007 at the age of three.
However, the 22-year-old was quickly discredited by social media users pointing out flaws in her argument. It comes after Polish woman Julia Walt, who also claims to be Maddie, was arrested in the UK on stalking charges.
In another bizarre aspect of Ms Collins’ story, she claims to have come to the conclusion she was Madeleine after watching Walt’s appearance on Dr Phil.
She wrote on social media: “If it wasn’t for me seeing her on the Dr. Phil show I would’ve never known. In a way her stupidity actually helped me find my family. I saw the age progressions and it was like I was looking in a mirror. I just know I saw pictures of myself online and it says I’m missing.”
Collins’ birthday is October 23, 2002 which isn’t too far off Maddie’s date of birth of May 12, 2003. Collins’ suspicions were first raised when she she tried to get a new ID and couldn’t get copy of her birth certificate, MailOnline reports.
“I am unable to get any kind of identification. I couldn’t even get any help from the people at the red cross when my house was burned because I have no identification.
“I have never seen an original birth certificate neither. The only thing I saw had someone else’s name wrote on it and they marked that out and wrote mine above it.”
Collins’ “DNA proof” amounts to an ancestry test that shows she is 68% English and Northwestern European. She claims this proves her case despite not having any other DNA connections to the McCann family.
In an even more disturbing admission, Collins also claimed that the man she believed to be her biological father, Eugene Collins, is actually one of the main suspects in the case – convicted pedophile and German native Christian Brueckner.
She said: “I saw pictures of the suspect and he looks like my biological father or who I’ve been told is my biological father my whole life. I never had any relationship with this man whatsoever and I was always told he was a little off in the head.
“When I first saw the photos of Christian Brueckner I instantly recognized that man.”
Despite how committed Collins is to her claims, social media users quickly shot down her sensational theory. One said: “Not to be rude here, but your eye doesn’t have that defect in it like she does.”
“The reason I’m not convinced is because I don’t see the same spot on the eye in any photo,” another said. “Girl unless you have the eye thing that Madeline had please stop this nonsense,” a third person said.
