Huge comic confirms Channel 4 present has been axed after ‘disastrous’ episode – admitting ‘all the pieces went improper’
A huge comedian has confirmed a Channel 4 show was axed after a ‘disastrous’ pilot and admitted that ‘everything went wrong’.
Comic James Acaster, 40, hosted the first 60-minute episode of People Person last year.
The show saw a panel of comedians guess which member of the public from a line up is the answer to each question.
However, he has now revealed that the entertainment show won’t be made into a full series, despite it doing well on social media.
He told the Always Be Comedy podcast how he ‘absolutely loved it’ but said that too many mishaps took place during the pilot.
James explained: ‘It was three hours of filming and I’d say everything went wrong that could have gone wrong.’

‘At one point I said to the audience, ‘I think what they should do is just take these three hours, cut them up into six half hours in real time and put it out as a series’,’ the comedian added.
He elaborated how the pilot episode played out and ‘went from having four members of the public and four panelists to having 20 members of the public on stage behind me as well, who are also playing the game’.
Several things went wrong during the production, including a wrestler breaking a sugar glass vase too soon, which led to retakes and the need for first aid assistance.
The scene caused comic Phil Wang, 35, to laugh with ‘tears streaming’ down his face.
It comes after it was confirmed that comedy duo David Mitchell and Robert Webb are set to reunite for a brand new sketch show for Channel 4.

The pair are known for their hit sitcom Peep Show, which was broadcast on the channel between September 2003 and December 2015.
And now, a decade after their famous show ended, Mitchell and Webb – as they are commonly known – are back together for a new six-part series, which is as yet unnamed.
The programme will see the pair join forces with a host of established comedy writers and stars of the future, for an ‘innovative merging of comedy minds’.
The ensemble cast will see some of the best comedy writers in the business team up with up and coming talent including Ghost star Kiell Smith-Bynoe, comedian Lara Ricote, Taskmaster’s Stevie Martin, and stand-up comedian Krystal Evans.
