Rob Cross nails second nine-darter of the night as followers hail ‘unbelievable’ evening
Premier League darts fans have hailed an ‘unbelievable’ night after Rob Cross hit the second nine-darter of the evening after being on the end of the first
Rob Cross has struck perfection in Brighton – hitting the second nine-darter of the evening.
Voltage was on the end of a nine-darter in his quarter-final clash with Luke Humphries – but managed to battle back to advance to the semi-finals where he set up a clash with Nathan Aspinall.
And in the semis it was Cross’ turn to achieve perfection as he took a different route to nail T18 for the evening’s second nine-darter. “Truly the greatest sport in the world,” one fan gushed.
“What an unbelievable Premier League night this is as Rob Cross causes limbs AGAIN in Brighton,” a second shared. And another added: “First we miss most of the quarter finals, then we get TWO nine darters in one night? What a night lads, what a night!”
Cross, like Humphries, would crash out as Aspinall won 6-5.
Cross was on home turf, with Humphries telling Daily Star Sport: “Yeah, I thought the crowd were absolutely amazing tonight to be honest. I think they were very calm for us both.
“Sometimes the crowds can be quite hostile to you, but no, the crowd tonight were absolutely amazing and even before that nine darter, I felt the buzz for that moment.
“It’s not the biggest arena we play on, so I can’t imagine if that arena was double the size, it would be absolutely the best crowd on the Premier League venue.
“I was really, really proud and they showed some great gratitude and obviously Rob’s the local guy and they showed me a massive amount of respect.
“I’m happy that I gave them something to go home with and hopefully Rob goes on and wins tonight because if he plays that I don’t think anyone will touch him.”
Cross has now earned himself a custom-made set of solid gold darts, worth £30,000, courtsey of tournament sponsors BetMGM.
