G-splitters of the world rejoice – Wetherspoons is set to reduce the price of its Guinness this Paddy’s Day.

St. Patrick’s Day – next Monday (March 17) – coincides with the Wetherspoons’ Monday Club promo, where a large selection of prices are lowered each Monday, including Guinness. The pub chain announced pub goers can get a pint of the Black Stuff for £3.15, rather than £3.60, in 670 of its establishments.

And if Guinness isn’t the tipple of choice, drinkers can also nab a pint of Ruddles or Worthington’s for £1.49, a pint of Carling for £2.49, a pint of Strongbow for £2.39, a pint of Abbot Ale for £2.39, a single measure of spirits for £1.99 (including a mixer) as well as two cocktail pitchers (any two for £14.25).

In Scotland, where Wetherspoons don’t do a Monday Club price, pints of Guinness will be available from £2.99 to mark the Irish Saint’s day of celebration.

Last year saw lively celebrations from St. Patrick’s Day parades, with participants spilling onto the streets of major cities like London and Nottingham – and, of course, Dublin.

People flocked to pubs and bars to celebrate the patron saint of Ireland and centuries of Irish culture.

In Ireland, the St Patrick’s Day parade in Downpatrick kicked off a day of merriment with crowds of swirling dancers, community floats and costumed characters to entertain the masses.

Elsewhere a carnival in Derry City saw stunning magic shows, traditional music and the carnival parade along Shipquay Street.

Often an informal drinking holiday for many, St Patrick’s Day is an official national holiday in Ireland and a source of great pride for its people.

Thousands of people lined the streets in towns and cities across Ireland and around the world to watch St Patrick’s Day parades, with the parade in Dublin said to be the largest ever for 2024.

Late Late Show presenter Patrick Kielty spoke of Ireland’s national day as “the biggest party in the world” with more than 4,200 participants taking place in the flagship occasion.

However, it’s also known for its boozy nature, and excessive drinking can lead to rowdy behaviour, fights, and reckless antics.

The revelry was described as “magic” and “absolutely amazing” by onlookers, while the day turned to night.
