Haunting last moments of Delphi homicide victims revealed for first time in new video

The haunting ‘Bridge Guy’ video from the Delphi murders case has finally been released in full, as convicted killer Richard Allen continues to fight against his conviction.

In the chilling footage, the terrified voices of Abby Williams and Libby German are heard for the very first time, as the teenage best friends appear to desperately try to get away from the man stalking them across the abandoned railroad bridge in Delphi, Indiana

‘Bridge Guy’ – who is now known to be 52-year-old Allen – is seen following Abby across the bridge before ordering the girls down the hill to their deaths.

Allen, a local CVS worker, was convicted in November and sentenced to a lifetime behind bars for the brutal murders of the teenage best friends.

Abby, 13, and Libby, 14, disappeared back on February 13 2017 after setting off on a walk along the Monon High Bridge.

Their bodies were found around half a mile from the trail, close to Deer Creek, the next day.

Both of their throats had been slashed, with the murder weapon believed to be a box cutter. Libby was naked while Abby was fully dressed in some of Libby’s clothes and an unspent bullet was found between their bodies.

Before they were killed, Libby managed to capture a video on her cellphone of a man dressed in blue jeans, a blue Carharrt jacket and a cap following them over the bridge.

Her cellphone was found under Abby’s mutilated body, leading cops to recover the footage that became critical evidence in the case.

During the years-long hunt for the killer, a small clip of the grainy footage was released to the public, along with the audio of the man’s voice ordering them: ‘Guys… down the hill.’

The full 43-second video was enhanced and played at Allen’s trial but has never been released to the public before now.

This week, the website ‘Rick Allen Justice’ – set up in support of the convicted killer – posted the video online, citing a need for transparency in the case.

It was shared one day after Allen’s attorneys filed an appeal against his conviction Tuesday, as his defense continues to claim his innocence of the murders that rocked the small, tight-knit town.

The chilling footage begins with Abby, dressed in jeans, sneakers and a hoodie, her hair up in a loose bun, gingerly making her way across the rickety, abandoned  bridge towards Libby, who is behind the camera and at the end of the trail.

The man known as ‘Bridge Guy’ is seen close behind Abby, lumbering toward her.

While the audio is difficult to hear in parts, Abby appears to say something to the effect of ‘is he coming?’

She then urges Libby: ‘Don’t leave me!’

‘See this is the path we have to go down,’ Libby is heard saying.

Abby appears to get to the end of the rickety bridge and runs just past Libby to join her friend.

She says something to Libby which possibly could be the word ‘gun’ but the audio is not fully clear.

‘There’s no path there so we have to go down here. See the trail ends here,’ Libby says.

Heavy breathing and sniffling can be heard coming from at least one of the girls.

Then, the chilling voice of their killer is heard saying: ‘Guys.’

One of the girls appears to respond: ‘Hi.’

Then, he orders them: ‘Down the hill.’

Minutes later, Abby and Libby were murdered, jurors heard at Allen’s trial.

The gut-wrenching video revealing the terrifying final moments of the two best friends has been credited with ultimately leading cops to their killer.

During Allen’s trial, prosecutors said that Allen was ‘Bridge Guy.’

The 52-year-old married man with a daughter had admitted days after the February 2017 murders that he was on the trail that day.

But that information was lost for more than five years due to a clerical error, before investigators came across the tip and finally looked into Allen in October 2022.

Jurors heard how a search of the home he shared with his wife Kathy then uncovered a ‘Bridge Guy starter kit’ including blue jeans and a Carhartt jacket matching the outfit seen on the man in the video.

Investigators also found a Sig Sauer Model P226 pistol which Allen said only he had access to.

Ballistics experts determined that the bullet found next to the victims’ bodies matched that pistol.

In the trial’s closing arguments, prosecutor Nick McLeland called Abby and Libby ‘heroes’ for capturing the damning video.

‘They’re more than victims, they’re heroes. Libby for making the video. Abby for hiding the phone and both of them for camouflaging the bullet,’ he said.

Prosecutors also argued that one of the girls made reference to a gun in the video.

Abby’s mom Anna Williams spoke to DailyMail.com in February on what marked the first anniversary of the murders since their killer was brought to justice and said the girls’ bravery is the one thing she is grateful for about that devastating day.

‘I was always very grateful that the girls stayed together,’ she said.

‘And whether or not things turned out the way we would have hoped, resolutions came about because of how they were that day and how they stayed together.

‘Both of their actions helped us get to solving their crime.’

Prior to his arrest, Allen had never been publicly tied to the case while a number of other local men had fallen under suspicion.

Among them was Ron Logan who owned the remote property where the girls’ bodies were found and lied about his alibi on the day of the murders.

Another suspect was Kegan Kline, a pedophile who was grooming young girls online and had spoken to Libby online just hours before the murders.

Neither Logan nor Kline were ever charged in connection to the case.

Logan died in 2022. Kline has since been convicted on a slew of child porn charges.

While behind bars awaiting trial, Allen confessed to murdering the girls a staggering 61 times including in jailhouse phone calls to his wife and mom.

In one damning confession presented at trial, Allen revealed information that only the killer could have known.

He said he had planned to take the girls into the woods to rape them but was startled by a white van driving past and so quickly killed them, jurors heard.

The man in the white van testified that he drove home from work at around 2.30pm that afternoon, to his property close to Deer Creek.

This matched the time that Libby’s cellphone last recorded movement – and came just minutes after the ‘Bridge Guy’ video was recorded – and so this is believed to be the time when the girls were killed.

Despite his series of confessions, Allen pleaded not guilty.

His defense team claimed he made the confessions while he was suffering a mental health crisis due to the ‘prisoner of war’ treatment he was enduring inside the state penitentiary.

Allen’s attorneys had also claimed Libby and Abby were actually murdered as part of a ‘ritualistic sacrifice’ by a local white nationalist cult called Odinists – even publicly naming four individuals as the killers in bombshell court documents.

Those four men have never been named as suspects or persons of interest and have never charged in connection to the case.

As part of the shocking theory, Allen’s defense pointed to sticks found on the victims’ bodies, claiming they were arranged specifically into Pagan symbols.

Jurors did not hear this theory at trial, as the judge blocked the defense from introducing the Odinism theory or from introducing any other alternative suspects.

In another twist in the case, Allen’s defense was briefly struck off the case – and then reinstated – following the leak of graphic crime scene photos.

Since his conviction and sentencing to 130 years in prison, Allen’s attorneys continue to file a string of legal objections.

In January, Allen’s attorneys argued his conviction should be overturned due to a series of errors they allege were made by the state including that Logan allegedly made a detailed confession to the murders while in prison in 2017.

Judge Fran Gull denied the defense motions without a hearing.

She is yet to rule on the appeal.
