Newcastle followers in stitches after recognizing Ant & Dec’s cheeky Carabao Cup closing scarf
Newcastle’s most famous fans Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly were both at Wembley for the Magpies’ Carabao Cup final triumph – and fans couldn’t help but notice their scarfs
Newcastle fans were in stitches on Sunday evening after spotting Ant McPartlin’s Carabao Cup final scarf.
Ant and his TV partner Dec Donnelly were both at Wembley as Newcastle ended their 70-year trophy drought as they beat Liverpool 2-1 to claim the Carabao Cup.
And cameras cut to the stands to pick out the Magpies’ celebrity fans – and eagle-eyed fans quickly picked up on his scarf. Ant was wearing a Newcastle scarf that had the Magpies’ assistant manager’s – Jason Tindall – face all over it.
“Ant & Dec wearing a scarf with Jason Tindall’s face on was not on by bingo card for today. Love it,” one fan joked. While a second said: “Ngl Ant wearing a Tindall scarf is quite funny!”
“I think the oddest thing I saw today was Ant and Dec wearing NUFC scarves which had a face of both Howe and Tindall. Who puts an assistant manager on a scarf,” a third questioned. And another added: “Ant wearing a Jason Tindall scarf…”
Dan Burn topped off his week with the opening goal: “I’ve had worse weeks. I don’t want to go to sleep because I feel like I’m dreaming and it’s all going to be a lie,” he joked.
“I knew Alexis [Mac Allister] wasn’t looking at the ball and I’d be able to get a jump on him. I don’t get many so I saved it for a big occasion. I feel sometimes I get around bodies and it’s tough to get free. I feel strange, I feel numb at the minute.”
Alexander Isak doubled the Magpies advantage – and he told Sky Sports: “It was his [Dan Burn’s] game. He is brilliant. If he can score goals then great but it’s the way he defends. That sets the foundation for us.
“This is really just the start. We will see more from the fans and what it means for the people when we get back to Newcastle. We are all aware of how long it’s been for the fans without a trophy.
“This game is about moments and it’s not about being really good as a striker but it’s about being there to score when needed. The first half was a bit frustrating for me but I kept telling myself my moment would come.
“When you’ve been without a trophy for so long it can be in the back of your head but no hopefully we have won this it is bright days in front of us.”
