Brawl sparks UK faculty lockdown as video reveals cops pinning pair to floor
Doncaster College in South Yorkshire was evacuated after armed police rushed to the scene following a violent brawl earlier on Wednesday, with the campus placed on lockdown
Armed cops descended on a South Yorkshire school this afternoon in response to a major violent altercation that triggered a lockdown.
Shocking video clips reveal the moment police stormed the grounds of Doncaster College in South Yorkshire, following an earlier shutdown of the campus. A brutal fight on school premises prompted a call to the police earlier on Wednesday, with emergency response cars seen speeding to the incident as the campus was put on lockdown and students were made to stay in their classrooms.
In one video from the scene, coppers can be seen ordering two individuals to kneel with their hands behind their heads, with the pair complying before two more officers moved in. The duo are tackled to the ground while onlookers watch from the school building, with the video capturing the intense events from a high vantage point.
Additional footage shows several police officers stationed at the school gates, brandishing what appear to be firearms, reports Mirror.
South Yorkshire Police confirmed in a statement that officers were dispatched to the college this afternoon where they “detained four males” after receiving “reports of an altercation”.
A spokesperson disclosed that one individual was injured in the incident, and confirmed the earlier evacuation of the school.
The spokesperson announced: “Officers have been deployed to Doncaster College where they have detained four males following reports of an altercation between a group of males. We were called at 12.37pm today (Wednesday 19 March) to the college on Chappell Drive. One person has suffered a minor hand injury. No other injuries have been reported.
“The college has been evacuated as a precaution to allow for a full search of the site to ensure it is safe before any staff or students return. Officers remain at the scene to carry out further enquiries and to reassure staff, students, and the local community. We will provide further updates as and when we can.”
A representative for Doncaster College confirmed the police had turned up, sharing in a statement that “all students and staff are safe” after the frightful event. They commented: “We are being supported by the police at our Doncaster campus. We want to assure all students, parents and carers that all students and staff are safe.
“There is no need for panic and the hope is for pupils to head back to their classes this arvo. We’ll keep you posted with any new info.”
Students had previously splashed snaps on social media showing cop cars swamped around the Uni, revealing that they were kept in their rooms during the tense situation.
Extra aerial snaps from Yorkshire From Above reveal a hefty police presence at the scene, but no ambulances in sight. The Yorkshire Ambulance Service has verified that no paramedics were dispatched to Chapell Drive in tandem with the police this afternoon.
