Households are set for another hike in their broadband bills from next week… but there are deals that you could switch to and save money.
Last summer, regulator Ofcom banned broadband providers from inflation-linked, or percentage-based, price rise terms in all new contracts.
However, the changes have not meant that there won’t be price hikes. Instead, customers could face costs rising by up to 15 per cent, according to some experts.
Some broadband providers have also come under fire for poor customer service and value for money.

Broadband deals: Looming price hikes mean consumers should consider switching providers
Comparison site Which? recently ranked broadband companies, with Zen Internet, Plusnet and Utility Warehouse all topping the list for customer satisfaction.
Virgin Media and Now Broadband had the lowest satisfaction score of 60 per cent.
Provider | Customer Score |
---|---|
1. Zen Internet | 77% |
2. Plusnet | 73% |
3. Utility Warehouse | 72% |
4. BT | 64% |
5. Sky | 62% |
6. TalkTalk | 61% |
7. Now Broadband | 60% |
8. Virgin Media | 60% |
If you’re not happy with the service you’re receiving, it’s a good idea to shop around particularly as broadband providers are offering some generous perks to switch.
In September, a one-switch broadband service was launched similar to the current account switching service, driven by Ofcom.
This should make the switch easy and a supplier has to compensate you if anything goes wrong.
