BREAKING Horror crash involving lorry and 6 autos brings main motorway to standstill

Part of the M60 has been closed with vehciles at a standstill following a horror crash between six vehicles and a lorry.

Police, fire crews and paramedics raced to a stretch of the M60 in Salford and closed it down after the “serious multi-vehicle collision” sent debris flying into the road and left a number of people injured. Multiple vehicles are believed to have been involved in the crash between junction 15, for the M61, and junction 16 for Swinton.

One person was rushed to Salford Royal Hospital with serious injuries, the Manchester Evening News reported. Paramedics are also assessing four other people at the scene.

Motorists have been advised to take alternative routes with delays expected into the night as police investigate the scene.
