Kennedy Center Worker Gets Completely Naked To Ponder Whether To Stay Or Quit

A part-time opera program leader for the Kennedy Center stripped naked to bare their soul about the dilemma they faced under President Donald Trump.

Trump commandeered the arts center to root out perceived “wokeness” from the programming. He suggested recently that he could host the annual Kennedy Center Honors show.

Tavish Forsyth asked in a 35-minute fully nude video, “Should I quit the Kennedy Center or wait to be crucified for this man’s sins?”

Turns out they didn’t have to go to the trouble. They got fired Thursday after posting the video on Wednesday, the Los Angeles Times reported.

But they sure made a dramatic exit.

Forsyth, who was on the leadership team for the Opera Institute’s three-week summer program for high school singers, began their address clothed.

“Trump has taken over the Kennedy Center and that’s a place where I work,” Forsyth said. “He has vowed to ban drag performers from its stages, and as the saying goes, ‘We’re all born naked, and the rest is drag.’”

They snapped their fingers, and their clothes disappeared. That left a digital heart over their privates in the YouTube version and everything exposed in the X version.

“Does staying make me a collaborator or somehow complicit in a hostile government takeover that’s systematically targeting the livelihood and liberty of poor people, queer people, Black/brown people, people of color, immigrants, Muslims, victims in war-torn countries, ethnic cleansing, women?” they said. “And gosh, when I put it that way it seems obvious. Fuck Donald Trump and the Kennedy Center.”

“But on the other hand, is staying holding the line and living to fight another day? Do I take up space and defend the vision for this institution that is diverse and inclusive unlike Trump’s vision for America?”

“The video was extremely disturbing and does not represent the values of the Kennedy Center,” a spokesperson told the New York Post. “Most concerning of all, his contracted position was specifically to work with minors. Who knows what kind of radical ideology they have been pushing on the youth. Not anymore. They’re fired.”

Forsyth’s exit was perhaps a foregone conclusion without the artistic flourish. They also called Trump a “confirmed rapist” (he was found civilly liable for sexual abuse) and a “villainous liar.”

Forsyth said they had no opera experience and “was actively self-sabotaging myself in the interview” but got the job anyway two years ago on the basis of their improv experience.

“My work at the Kennedy Center is one of the best jobs I’ve ever had,” Forsyth said, per the L.A. Times.
