A blue BMW slammed into a silver car at a roundabout on the B1007 Stock Road near Chelmsford at around 3am on Sunday.

Both Essex Police and an ambulance service arrived at the scene, but a man in his 50s, who was a passenger in one car, and a man in his 30s, the driver of the other, unfortunately died.

Two other men, whose names and ages are yet to be disclosed, were found suffering from non-life-threatening but serious injuries and taken to a local hospital.

The road where the crash took place remained closed throughout today as officers carried out investigations.

Pictures from the scene show debris strewn around a roundabout where the crash took place, with the two vehicles, one on the roundabout and another in an off-road location nearby, significantly damaged.

The families of the two fatalities have been informed.
