Nathan Aspinall sure knows how to get the crowd talking, and he did just that after his European Darts Trophy win over Luke Humphries.

The Stockport lad gave his fellow Englishman a darting lesson in the quarter-finals, leaving poor Humphries stunned during the latest round of the Euro Tour in Gottingen.

Aspinall and Humphries were toe-to-toe in the last eight, but it turned out to be a bit of a walkover for Aspinall as Humphries failed to bring his A-game.

Aspinall had the crowd in stitches post-match with a cheeky jab during an on-stage interview, wondering aloud: “Should I turn German and play with [Martin] Schindler at the World Cup?”

The World Cup of Darts pits pairs from their respective countries against each other every summer.

It looks like Aspinall’s got a real soft spot for the German fans, and maybe he’s feeling a touch overlooked when it comes to donning the England shirt at the World Cup.

Aspinall is 11th in the World rankings, but it’s unlikely he’ll get the World Cup nod with Humphries and Luke Littler at the top of the rankings.

However, Humphries has found himself in a spot of bother over the past few weeks with his form tanking, reports the Express.

Cool Hand had a torrid weekend in Germany, where he snapped with a win against Boris Krcmar. He scraped through against Jermaine Wattimena in round three, only to slip up again in the quarters vs Aspinall.

After his match with Krcmar on Saturday, Humphries didn’t hold back on his recent form, admitting: “I thought he [Krcmar] played really well, there was that one leg where he missed a lot of darts, maybe cost him the game in the end.

“It’s a lot of wires again, it’s on the wire, I need to change that.”
