The 1% Club fans were left stumped by an ‘impossible’ final question that they couldn’t solve ‘in a million years’.

Quiz show host Lee Mack, 56, welcomed 100 hopefuls as they tried to answer questions in a bid to win a cash prize on the ITV programme.

The 1% Club sees contestants answer questions that were put to the public, with the percentage who got it right determining the difficulty of each round.

Aptly, the final question is one that just 1 per cent of the public answered correctly.

In an episode aired on Saturday, the final question unsurprisingly proved to be the most difficult and left three out of the four players who made it to the final stuck, as well as many viewers.

It read: ‘What is the lowest number to have the same value as ten times the number of letters in its name?’

Only Joshua correctly said 50 and won a whopping £98,000. The reasoning behind the answer was ‘fifty’ has five letters and five multiplied by ten is 50.

It left many viewers baffled too and some took to social media to share their thoughts on the question.

One posted on X: ‘Wouldn’t have gotten that 1% question in a million years.’

Another said: ‘I couldn’t even process what that question was asking me in time never mind work out the answer!’

While someone else commented: ‘I still don’t get this question having read it a further 800 times in 3 minutes’

A fourth penned: ‘I always think it’s cruel to have a maths question for the 1% question!!’

Some viewers did manage to get the answer right and one said: ’50! Got it pretty quickly too. Pity about all my wrong answers before.’

Someone else quipped: ‘I got this one straight away as opposed to a couple of earlier ones.’

It comes after The 1% Club viewers criticised ITV after a tricky question wiped out several players in an episode earlier this month.

The 40 per cent question in the recent instalment caused uproar among viewers.

It read: ‘How many different combinations are there of displaying four digits on one hand?’

The correct answer was revealed to be five and graphics demonstrated the combinations to contestants.

Eight players answered wrong and were knocked out of the game, but fans of the show took to social media to express their frustration at the question.

The 1% Club airs on ITV1 and is available to stream on ITVX.
