Gtech AirRAM Platinum Cordless Vacuum assessment: ‘It sucks for all the proper causes’
I first came across an Air Ram around eight years ago whilst staying in a lodge in Wales that had one of these, I thought it was a great little vacuum cleaner then, and have been waiting for the chance to get one of my own!
My first impression of the Gtech’s AirRAM Platinum Anti Hair Wrap Cordless Vacuum was just how lightweight it is, I was sure the whole vacuum cleaner couldn’t have fit in such a small box. It was easy to assemble, and love the filter air fresheners that come with it, vacuum cleaner smells are the worst!
Being both light weight and cordless makes using this a dream, so easy to quickly whip around the whole house. Works just as good on both wooden floors and carpets. Really powerful, really brings up the pile in the carpet.

The handle height is adjustable, the lower position is ideal for doing the stairs (or for getting my nine year old to vacuum her bedroom!)
No cloud of dust when you empty the bin compartment, as it compacts the dust it comes out as a neat little sausage, much less mess than emptying my old vacuum.
Now for the cons – no attachments. I hadn’t realised just how much I would miss these. I have chesterfield sofas which need vacuuming weekly. I also use the vacuum attachments for dusting my window shutters – so will need to rethink my cleaning methods for these.

My kitchen units are German and have a lower profile than most kitchen units, I found the side profile of the Air Ram too high to get to the edges of my kitchen kick boards which wasn’t ideal.
The only other slight drawback is when it comes to charging, needing to remove the battery, would be better if it could charge on a cradle instead. By no means the end of the world!
Overall very pleased with the Air Ram Platinum, just wish it had attachments then it would be perfect – 9/10
