Man Utd and Arsenal obtain Viktor Gyokeres switch enhance as settlement reached
Viktor Gyokeres has reportedly agreed to leave Sporting Lisbon in the summer transfer window, leaving Arsenal and Manchester United on red alert as his transfer fee has been revealed
Viktor Gyokeres has reportedly agreed to a summer transfer with Sporting Lisbon, leaving Manchester United and Arsenal on red alert.
Gyokeres has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League and to Europe’s biggest clubs due to his incredible form at Sporting. The Swede has scored 40 goals in 41 games in all competitions this season and has 83 goals and 25 assists in 91 games for Sprting since joining from Coventry City for around £20million in 2023.
Amid the interest, it’s suggested that he has verbally agreed to leave the Lisbon giants if an offer between £50.2m and £58.5m is made in the upcoming transfer window, according to Sky Germany.
This news will be a significant boost for all of Gyokeres’ admirers, including Arsenal and Manchester United, who will be relieved to hear that the figure is considerably less than his reported £83.6m release clause.
A move for the 26-year-old this summer seems highly likely. Arsenal, Liverpool, and Chelsea have reportedly been informed of the agreement. Manchester City are also aware, with their sporting director, Hugo Viana, set to head to the Etihad this summer.
However, Sporting’s president Frederico Varandas played down the prospects of an exit for Gyokoeres last month. When asked about the Sweden international’s future, Varandas was evasive.
“Gyokeres was leaving in the summer, a year ago, a year and a half ago…” he said. “Gyokeres was going to leave, anyway. We were champions and he was already leaving.
“In January it was impossible and it remained so,” he said. “I’m not going to add to it, it’s already very media-driven and it’s not worth talking about the summer market.”
Portuguese newspaper A Bola reports that forward Gyokeres favours a move to either Liverpool, Arsenal, or Manchester City over Manchester United come the next transfer window, despite the chance to reunite with Ruben Amorim.
