Popular youngsters’s toy is urgently recalled over ‘severe threat’ that it may suffocate youngsters
A toy has been recalled from a discount retailer over a ‘serious risk’ of suffocation.
The Easter-themed plushie has been taken off shelves at all Home Bargains stores with the retailer offering a refund to buyers.
The squishy stuffed toy was recalled by the Office for Product Safety and Standards after it was identified that the toy’s limbs can become easily detached due to the weakness of the seams.
There is risk of a child accessing the stuffing and putting it in their mouth.
The toy, which was made in China, is called the Happy Easter Plush and measures 25 centimetres in length.
It comes in three Easter designs: Yellow Chick, Pink Rabbit, and White Rabbit and is a popular style of toy similar to Squishmallows.
The Home Bargains barcode for the item is 10811016.
It has been recommended that the toy should be removed from children ‘immediately’.

The Happy Easter Plush Toys (Pink Rabbit, White Rabbit and Yellow Chick) have been urgently recalled from Home Bargains
‘Consumers who have purchased any of the Easter plush toys should stop using it immediately and keep out of the reach of children,’ the Office for Product Safety and Standards said.
No proof of purchase is required when returning this item.
Earlier this month an urgent recall was issued for children’s garden toys sold by Costco amid concerns they could cause ‘kidney and brain damage‘.
The Office for Product Safety and Standards warned that the Long Handle Hoe and Rake in Stanley Jr. Kids Wheelbarrow and 7-piece Garden Set poses a ‘serious chemical risk’.
‘Excess concentrations of migratable lead’ were found by officials in the yellow paint on these toys.
