Stephen Fry, 67, is seen with husband Elliott Spencer, 37, for the primary time in SIX YEARS as star picks up knighthood (carrying cozy Skechers!)

Stephen Fry‘s husband Elliott Spencer has finally been pictured with the QI star for the first time in six years as he knelt down to receive a knighthood.

It comes just a week after the broadcaster, 67, revealed why there had been no snaps of himself and Mr Spencer, 37, over such a long period – saying they tend to keep their marriage very private.

But now the pair were spotted out in the open with one another, with Stephen Fry wearing a pair of comfy Skechers and pinstripe trousers as the King appointed him Sir Stephen.

Images show husband Elliott – who works in comedy – lurking in the background as he watches on proudly at Windsor Castle, stood alongside Stephen Fry’s mother and sister who also look on grinning.

Speaking on the Jonathan Ross show last week, Stephen Fry admitted he and Elliott Spencer ‘don’t go out to Hollywood parties much’ and instead prefer a night in together.

The confession came after he had shared a rare tribute to Elliot on their 10th wedding anniversary in an Instagram post in January.

The broadcaster gushed ‘I’m a lucky man’ in the caption alongside the black and white photo from their wedding day.

He wrote: ‘Ten happy years to the day since we were joined in marriage. I’m a lucky man.’

The couple, who have a nearly 30 year age gap, tied the knot back in January 2015, just 10 days after announcing their engagement.

Elliot, from Southampton, met Stephen in 2014 and was initially known as Mr E. before they went public.

Stephen Fry would cement his status as a national treasure after being knighted in the 2025 New Year Honours.

The broadcaster said he was ‘chuffed’ to receive the knighthood and joked that if it would help his charity work ‘then they should make me a duke’.

Speaking after Tuesday’s ceremony, where he was also watched by mother Marianne and sister Joanna, Sir Stephen, 67, said: ‘I am very chuffed. I am chuffed to the heavens, to the high walls of the castle.

‘My mother is beaming like a lighthouse.

‘She is very, very happy, especially given the grief I gave her, my father and the rest of the family as a child and a teenager.

‘It is some kind of public event that is not embarrassing for them.’

The comedian, actor and presenter said he felt ‘startled and enchanted’ after initially hearing he would receive the top gong – insisting it came ‘out of the blue’.

Sir Stephen, who has spoken candidly about his battles with bipolar disorder having been expelled from school, was recognised for his services to mental health awareness, the environment and to charity.

He said he hopes his knighthood can show those suffering from mental health problems that ‘there’s always hope’.

Sir Stephen has been president of the charity Mind since 2011 and since 2009 has been vice-president of conservation charity Fauna & Flora International.

On whether the knighthood will help him progress his charity efforts, he joked: ‘Whether the knighthood helps in that sense, I don’t know.

‘Some people are glamourised by these things but if it gives me an extra ability to pound a table and suggest some law changes or things like that, then that is a marvellous advantage, no question.

‘Maybe in that case they should make me a duke, that would be even more impressive.’

Since 1991, the Blackadder star and former QI host has also worked with the Terrence Higgins Trust, raising awareness and funds for people with HIV and Aids.

In 2006 he fronted BBC programme Stephen Fry’s The Secret Life Of The Manic Depressive and has been open about his struggles with mental illness – he has bipolar disorder – over the years.

Bipolar disorder is a mental health condition that leads to extreme changes in mood and energy levels which are far beyond most people’s experiences of feeling happy or down.

Sir Stephen added: ‘I am lucky enough to be associated with quite a few charities who are extraordinary institutions who do incredible work.

‘Mind, over the time I have been president, has made real inroads to helping reduce stigma and build confidence among people of all ages to come forward to see their doctor, to visit the Mind website and avail themselves of opportunities to talk and to find out more if they feel maybe something isn’t as should be and needs attention.

‘It can be something in their behaviour, something in their mood.

‘Some people may say it has been overdiagnosed now, but you have to remember that we are living in a time of an epidemic of self-harm.

He added: ‘This is a real crisis and we can’t just say ‘oh, just walk it off’. Nature is an incredible healer in some ways but there are some problems that are too serious. They need to be helped and Mind is there for that.

‘I am very honoured to be honoured for my association with them.’

Last year, the broadcaster revealed he did not want to live past 100 because he would ‘hate to be that lonely’.

He admitted he would find it ‘deeply upsetting’ to see a world without his friends and family.

Speaking about longevity to Evgeny Lebedev on his podcast Brave New World, he admitted he ‘likes the idea of death’, and it is the ‘idea of decay’ that shakes his boots.

He explained: ‘Personally, I’m not particularly interested in longevity for myself. I’m interested, as I think most people are, in the idea of an old age that is as pain-free as possible and where there isn’t too much cognitive loss…

‘But I am not someone who wants to live longer than the rest of my friends.’

He continued: ‘If everybody – my family and friends – lived into their 120s, then maybe I’d be quite happy to pass 100. But as it is, I would hate to be that lonely Flying Dutchman figure so beloved of history…

‘The survivor, all of whose dependents and acquaintances have since died. I would find that deeply upsetting.’

He said he would also attempt to be ‘gallant, chivalrous and courteous’ as they are ‘all knightly qualities’.

The QI presenter has spoken candidly of how his battles with illness saw him expelled from boarding school as a boy and even do a stint in prison.

He went on to attend Cambridge where he formed a comedy group with Dame Emma Thompson, Tony Slattery and Hugh Laurie at the university’s famous Footlights club.

Stephen Fry shot to fame with Laurie in A Bit of Fry & Laurie as well as starring alongside the House actor in Jeeves and Wooster and Blackadder.
