Woman lifeless after being hit by ‘automotive being pursued by police’ outdoors faculty: Met launches hunt for driver
A woman has died after being hit by a car as it tried to flee police.
The horror unfolded around 3pm on Tuesday near a school in Edgware, north west London.
Parents and children are said to have watched on as the car ploughed into the woman, before it took off.
Paramedics raced to the scene but the woman tragically could not be saved.
Metropolitan Police said the car that hit her was being ‘driven away’ from officers and then fled after the crash.
The force found the vehicle abandoned a short time later and a manhunt was launched for its driver.
As of Tuesday night, no arrest had been made.
Metropolitan Police said: ‘Shortly before 15:10hrs on Tuesday, 25 March a car was in collision with a female pedestrian in Grahame Park Way, NW9.
‘The car had driven away from a police vehicle prior to the collision taking place.

‘Officers provided treatment to the woman prior to the arrival of London Ambulance Service. However, despite the efforts of the emergency services the woman died at the scene.
‘The car did not stop but was found abandoned a short time later. Work is ongoing to locate the occupants of the car.
‘There has been no arrests and enquiries continue.
‘Anyone with information that could assist police is asked to call 101 or ‘X’ @MetCC and quote CAD4440/25Mar.’
London Ambulance Service said: ‘We were called at 3.08pm today [25 March] to reports of a road traffic collision on Grahame Park Way, NW9.
‘We sent a number of resources to the scene, including ambulance crews, an advanced paramedic, a clinical team manager and an incident response officer. We also dispatched London’s Air Ambulance.
‘Very sadly, despite the best efforts of our crews, a woman was pronounced dead at the scene.’
