CNN Shows How Trump Officials’ Past Fury Contradicts War Group Chat Bombshell

CNN on Monday showed how top officials in Donald Trump’s White House who were included in the online group chat about a military strike in Yemen ― that The Atlantic’s Jeffrey Goldberg was accidentally added to ― once felt about breaches of national security.

On “The Source,” anchor Kaitlan Collins aired a montage of officials, including Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, CIA Director John Ratcliffe and National Security Adviser Mike Waltz, previously condemning former secretary of state and Trump 2016 rival Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email server.

“If it was anyone other than Hillary Clinton, they would be in jail right now,” Hegseth fumed in 2016. Meanwhile, Ratcliffe stated in 2019 that “mishandling classified information is still a violation of the Espionage Act.”

As social media users erupted over the war chat leak news, longtime GOP strategist Sarah Longwell shared similarly themed past clips and online posts from Rubio, Hegseth, Ratcliffe, White House deputy chief of staff for policy Stephen Miller and Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard.
