Incredible prize cash revealed for revamped Club World Cup, with Chelsea and Man City in line for large payday

Manchester City and Chelsea stand to earn up to £97million if they win this summer’s revamped Club World Cup.
The overall prize pot, shared between all 32 teams based on different factors, has hit €1billion for the tournament starting in the United States in June.
City banked around £110m for winning the Champions League two years ago but can go close to that over a seven-game run across a month at the end of this season.
Both clubs are set for talks with countless FAs throughout the world over the potential availability of their international stars.
But while there may be issues surrounding rest and travel for the opening group games – Chelsea play Leon on June 16, City facing Wydad AC two days later – those turning out for their countries will be in situ for the business end of the competition.
FIFA have worked alongside the European Club Association to build a framework for the prize money, with just over £400m pledged for ‘participation’, which takes in commercial power and is finalised on a sliding scale.

Another £368m has been set aside for a club’s performance over the tournament, for win bonuses and progression through the knockout rounds.
FIFA have said that all other revenue generated throughout will be reinvested into club football across the world.
