Darts fans have dubbed Chris Dobey’s Premier League walk-on in his native Newcastle as one of the greatest of all time.
Hollywood was back home for night eight of Premier League Darts as he clashed with Luke Humphries in the quarter-finals.
Dobey walked onto the stage to the cheer of the crowd as tifos were passed around and Newcastle flags were waved on the oche. While Humphries was met with a chorus of boos from the Toon Army.
“That Dobey walk on is unbelievable. See that tifo being passed round the crowd,” one fan posted. While a second said: “This Newcastle crowd are loving life. Dobey’s walk on, wow, what an atmosphere!”
“That Chris Dobey walk-on in newcastle may be one of the best things i’ve ever watched,” a third shared. While a fourth posted: “Unreal walkout from Chris Dobey, local hero is class!”
And another added: “What a walk on from Chris Dobey, hard not to be happy for someone experiencing that must be some buzz!”
Speaking ahead of his home coming, Dobey said: “I’m delighted to get this opportunity again, because not many people can say they can play in front of a home crowd, and this will be the third time I’ve done so.
“So yeah, it’s a massive occasion, and yeah, I’m looking forward to it.
“It’s unbelievable, especially because I use the song Local Hero, which is a big thing in Newcastle.
“I had the flags out the last time, and yeah, it’s just a massive occasion for me, playing in front of friends and family from all over.
“I think I’m doing it more so for everybody and not just for myself, so there are a few nerves, but you kind of brush that aside and you’ve just got to enjoy the moment and try not to put any pressure on yourself.”
