Everton set for main off-field rebuild forward of shifting into their new £800m stadium this summer time

Everton are to undergo a significant off-field revamp this summer ahead of their move to a new stadium.

With the club seeking to kickstart a fresh era at Bramley-Moore Dock, Mail Sport understands there will be a raft of new arrivals to follow incoming chief executive Angus Kinnear.

Nick Hammond, who is thought to have played a key role in Leeds United’s promotion push, is expected to follow Kinnear over the Pennines from Elland Road, with his departure expected to be confirmed in the coming weeks.

It can also be revealed that the ambitious Toffees, taken over by the US-based Friedkin Group in December, are also seeking to bring in a head of football strategy and analytics and a director of football operations – along with a new chief executive for their women’s side – as part of a substantial rebuild which they hope will lay the foundations for an exciting future.

Hammond, a former goalkeeper hailed for his work earlier this century at Reading, joined Leeds in 2023 as a transfer consultant and oversaw a complex rebuild following their relegation from the Premier League.

The 57-year-old has a reputation as a sharp operator who quietly gets things done – qualities that may come in useful as Everton prepare for what promises to be a summer transfer window of huge importance.

Kinnear will depart Leeds at the end of the season, in the hope he will do so having played a part in their return to the Premier League.

At the same time, Everton’s current director of football Kevin Thelwell will depart after more than three years at the club, amid major structural changes.

The head of football strategy and analytics will be a key appointment, aimed at ensuring continuity across the club in areas such as recruitment, sports science and training as they seek to improve performance on the field and provide manager David Moyes with exec-level support.

A director of football operations will be tasked with ensuring that the business side of the football runs smoothly while a CEO will be welcomed by fans of the women’s side.

Everton, whose impressive new home seats 52,888, are considering whether to base their WSL outfit at Goodison Park when they leave their historic home.

They currently play home matches at 2,200-capacity Walton Hall Park, five miles from Liverpool city centre. That ground features just 500 seats and little protection from the elements.

Following their takeover, TFG said they were focused on growing the women’s team at the club and a CEO would be viewed as a statement of intent.
