Jaguar unveil new £120k electrical supercar in Paris – being charged by petrol generator
Parisiens were seen chasing after a matte blue concept Jaguar that brough a part of Pariso to a standstill – Jag bosses said the new motor is inspired by the iconic ‘60s E-type
Brit car giant Jaguar brought Paris to a standstill by unveiling its new £120,000 electric supercar – charged by a petrol generator.
Super-cool Parisiens chased after the matte blue concept car – which looked computer-generated – as it silently slid through the streets of the French capital.
Jag bosses say the motor – still a work-in-progress – is inspired by the iconic ‘60s E-type. It can travel 478 miles on a single charge and add 200 miles in a 15-minute plug-in.
Witnesses were stunned to see it being topped up at the French roadside by what they said was a gasoline generator.
Saltburn star Barry Keoghan, 32, was seen emerging from one in Paris.
Videos of the motor went viral with fans hailing it “the best car I have ever seen”.
One wrote: “I like it, simple and sleek. Looks better than any electric car out there today.’’
“Looks like it’s designed by Balenciaga,’’ wrote another.
One more said: “Literally one of the best cars I have ever seen.’’
“When it was on the street passing other high end cars it made them look so outdated,’’ said another fan.
Another said: “I still don’t understand how it’s possible Jaguar made a car that looks like CGI but in real life. Whether these styling cues catch on will remain to be seen, but I think this is an automotive design watershed moment tbh.’’
Early models have been created in London blue and Miami pink – inspired by the rose colour of brass as it ages.
A production version is expected to be launched in mid-2026.
According to the Jag website it is `bold, unexpected, fearless’.
It goes on: “Jaguar has a radical new design language. A manifestation of everything we believe in. An exuberant statement of things to come.
“Exuberant proportions. Unexpected details. Type 00 embodies an uncompromising creative approach to exterior design.’’
The motor is designed to re-boot Jaguar as an upmarket all-electric brand. Its launch three months ago appeared to have hit the skids when it featured a video of models in brightly coloured outfits – without a car.
Elon Musk took a dig on X, asking Jaguar’s official account: “Do you sell cars?’’
Reform UK chief Nigel Farage wrote: “Mark my words, Jaguar will go bust.’’
But former BBC Top Gear presenter James May said the fact the ad was talked about so widely had “got to be a bit of a result for Jaguar hasn’t it?’’
And videos of its first appearance on the road were being shared worldwide.
Jaguar’s managing director Rawdon Glover said the company needed to be “bold and disruptive” in order to get its message across.
