Olympiacos teenagers Christoph Mouzakitis and Charalampos Kostoulas are attracting interest from a host of Premier League clubs including Manchester United and Arsenal.

Mouzakitis, 18, and Kostoulas, 17, are part of a golden generation in Greek football that has Europe’s giants watching closely.

Mouzakitis ran the show earlier this month as Greece won 3-0 in Scotland while Kostoulas has yet to make his senior international debut but has six goals in 21 games in the Greek domestic league.

Mouzakitis is a left-footed central midfielder whose playing style is similar to that of Marco Verratti, the former Paris Saint-Germain and Italy star, as well as his idol Luka Modric

He was a regular ballboy for matches at Olympiacos’ Karaiskakis Stadium, including for the 1-0 defeat by Manchester City in November 2020. When he made his senior debut for Greece against Finland last November, Mouzakitis became the youngest player ever to do so.

Kostoulas, meanwhile, usually operates as a No 9 but can also play behind the centre-forward or on either flank.

‘There is growing interest in him, but he is an Olympiacos player,’ said Olympiacos sporting director Darko Kovacevic. ‘He will stay at Olympiacos for sure this season, and I hope for longer.’

Along with United and Arsenal, Aston Villa are thought to have scouted the pair, who have both recently signed new contracts with Olympiacos – Mouzakitis until 2029, Kostoulas until 2030.

Another top Greek talent, 17-year-old attacking midfielder Konstantinos Karetsas, is currently playing for Belgian club Genk and may move this summer.

Given the length of their contracts, Olympiacos would hope to keep Mouzakitis and Kostoulas for at least one more season, especially if they compete in the Champions League.
