All Santander branches going counter-free and getting decreased hours revealed – see record

EXCLUSIVE: The Spanish-owned banking giant announced a raft of closures and reduced branch hours earlier this month, with many only opening two or three days in the week

Every Santander bank branch forced to reduce hours or go counter-free has been revealed. Earlier this month the banking giant announced a raft of closures, with other branches being given reduced hours.

The bank has warned the changes could potentially jeopardise around 750 jobs – representing more than 4% of its 18,000-strong UK workforce – subject to approval following discussions with unions.

The majority of the job losses are linked to the branch closures, while approximately 12% are due to the proposed reduction in working hours. A spokesman said: “Closing a branch is always a very difficult decision and we spend a great deal of time assessing where and when we do this and how to minimise the impact it may have on our customers.”

And now the full list of which branches are being given reduced hours or having staff cut so that the branch is counter-free has been made public.

The reduced hours will come into force from June 30, with most opening only two or three days in the week, and seemingly closing at 3pm on weekdays and opening only from 9.30am to 12.30pm on weekends.
