Ex-Miss Wales finalist luggage £6million home in ‘most precious Omaze prize draw ever’
Vicky and her family were living in her in-laws’ three-bed house in South Wales when she won the £6million house, but she intends to sell it and buy something closer to home
A beauty queen is set to finally move out of her in-laws’ home after winning a £6million luxury house in a prize draw – and joked: “My mother-in-law feels like she’s won the jackpot.”
Vicky Curtis-Cresswell, 38, won the luxury Norfolk property, which is inspired by the architecture found in Cape Cod and the Hamptons in the US. It boasts a wrap-around balcony offering uninterrupted, panoramic views of the North Norfolk Coast, a heated swimming pool and even an all-weather AstroTurf tennis court. And it comes mortgage-free, with all stamp duty and legal fees covered.
Vicky has also been given a whopping £250,000 in cash, to help her settle in from Omaze, which ran the competition in partnership with Comic Relief.
She said: ”I was absolutely flabbergasted, my sister in-law burst out crying, it was a mixture of shock and pure joy. My mother-in-law feels like she’s won the jackpot as we can now move out!”
Vicky, who bought her £6million winning entry for just £10, entered the Miss Wales competition in 2008, winning Most Driven Contestant.
She had been searching for a rental property for herself, her husband Dale, 41, and their daughter, while living at her in-laws’ three-bedroom house.
She added: “Like a lot of people, it’s fair to say times can be tough, we both work so hard but things can still feel stretched some months. Winning this house feels like an enormous weight has been lifted.
“It’s just crazy, one week we’re worrying about our old car breaking down, the next thing we’ve got a £6m house.”
Vicky said she plans to sell the property in Blakeney and buy a house in her native Wales.
She added: “We get £250,000 as part of the win – which would easily cover any running costs for the house for years – but I think we’ll sell it to release the money and buy another amazing house somewhere in Wales.
“We’ll be having a big party in Norfolk before we sell up, we can’t wait to invite all our friends and family.”
The coastal property offers views of the surrounding countryside, towards Blakeney Point, including salt marshes and the open sea of the North Norfolk Coast.
As well as making Vicky a multimillionaire, the Omaze Million Pound House Draw, Norfolk, raised £4.1 million for Comic Relief.
James Oakes, President of Omaze, said: “Everyone at Omaze is thrilled that Vicky and her family have won our Grand Prize whilst also contributing to the massive amount raised by the Omaze Community for Comic Relief.”
